Gold Coast Volunteer Network

Feb 12, 2020

In Great Company are excited to be joining forces with many volunteer organisations from the Gold Coast region to form a Gold Coast Volunteer Network.

The launch of the network was held on Wednesday 5 February at Home of the Arts (HOTA), and our Program Manager Emma Moore attended it along with approximately 100 other not-for-profit organisations. The creation of the network is supported by The City of Gold Coast and has so far been resourced by the council.

Speaking at the launch, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the council had been working to revisit volunteering in our community since the Commonwealth Games. Following council research around this project, it is estimated that volunteers in the Gold Coast region provide approximately $66 million in unpaid work for charities and causes, and provide an absolutely vital role in our communities.

The network’s aim is to look at volunteering differently, sharing resources, training, and varying volunteer opportunities for our volunteer communities, and ensuring best practise and quality services in volunteering are available in our community.

Rather than our organisations competing for volunteers, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all share this wonderful resource in our community?

We certainly cannot wait to see what this network will bring to In Great Company and the Gold Coast community at large.
