Send a note of friendship

Jun 16, 2020

Do you want to volunteer but not sure what you can do with social distancing rules in place? Join Be Someone For Someone’s campaign and write to a letter to a senior who might be feeling lonely.

Be Someone For Someone is an charitable initiative aimed at tackling the issue of loneliness in Australia. With COVID-19 restrictions in place you can still brighten a senior’s day and make them feel less alone. 1,000 Notes of Friendship is a letter writing program to combat loneliness for our most vulnerable.

Because of COVID-19, there are 1,000s of seniors right now who feel extremely lonely, anxious and vulnerable. So, we want to send a personal note of friendship to as many seniors as possible.

There’s something special about a handwritten card to let someone know they matter.

We have created a simple way for you to brighten the day of an isolated senior, someone living alone or in a residential facility without visitors, or access to their community.

This is a terrible time for them and we’re giving you an easy way to play your part and make a big difference.

We want your help to send 1,000 beautiful notes of friendship to our seniors to show them we care. It’s the personal touch, from one human being to another. Who knows what difference a simple gesture could make?

1. Take 5 minutes to write a beautiful note of friendship (see below for some tips).

2. Return the card to us as soon as you can, at:
    1,000 Notes of Friendship Campaign
    PO Box 585
    Byron Bay
    NSW 2481

3. We will do the rest, personalising the card for the senior and posting it out to them.

Share your act of kindness! We love seeing photos of your cards, and you will inspire others to do the same. Tag us #1000notesoffriendship and share photos to [email protected]
